Speaker Profiles – 

Dr Janet Bastiman is Chief Science Officer at Storystream where she heads up the AI division. She has extensive experience in leading teams and building AI systems. With over 10 years experience at C-level, she has taken abstract concepts to innovative scalable products at multiple companies. A STEM polymath, Janet brings multidisciplinary ideas to the departments she leads, forming cutting edge research teams with an eye on delivery that is rarely seen. She has a bachelors and masters degree in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry from Oxford, and her PhD was in the field of Computational Neuroscience. Janet is a co-founder of the Tech Women London Meetup group and regularly speaks and writes on various technical subjects. She blogs on maths and technology at http://janjanjan.uk.

Aric Whitewood is the founding partner of WilmotML which combines machine learning and AI techniques with an established macro and risk appetite framework, in order to provide advisory services and to create new investment products. Previously Aric and I worked together at Credit Suisse, where Aric was the Head of Data Science for Client Analytics based in Switzerland.

Musheer Rizvi is an Automation and AI enthusiast who is passionate about helping organisations realise their potential through emerging technologies. With a focus on Robotic Process Automation(RPA) Musheer has been working with numerous organisations across various industries(Mining, Telcommunications, Automotive, Government, Insurance, Legal) and diverse business functions to help define, deliver and operate Robotic Process, Cognitive and alternate automation solutions. Musheer has obtained his M.B.A. from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, specializing in marketing and strategy. As a multidisciplinary RPA and AI expert, Musheer tracks and analyses emerging technology and business trends, including the growing impact of RPA and cognitive technologies.

New UK Chapter – Leeds

All,

We are pleased to announce the addition of another Chapter in the UK, specifically Leeds. This is a great addition to the Neurons family and we welcome the Leeds Chapter Leader Barry Singleton.

I will be meeting Barry in person on Thursday and we will be announcing the first meeting in Leeds very soon, to align with the Leeds Digital Festival during late April.

The specific details will be announced on the Chapters website shortly, but most likely to be Tuesday 24th April (save the date).

South Africa – Cape Town

I am very very pleased to announce the addition of a new continent to the Neurons family. It is with great pleasure I welcome South Africa and Cape Town as our very latest Chapter.

Our Chapter leader is Nick Bradshaw who is also running the first AI Expo in Africa this year, so its wonderful to be part of the growth and spread of the Artificial Intelligence community in this region of the world.

Please help us spread the word and share with your own networks to help build up this group.
